Extended Access
We are currently taking part in the extended hours option, which means that we are also open one evening each week until 20.30 for pre-booked appointments only. Please contact reception for further information.

These surgeries are aimed specifically at patients who commute and cannot easily get time off from work during normal surgery appointments.

The commuter surgeries are staffed by GPs and Health Care Assistant from the practice working on a rota basis.

Please note however that these extended hours surgeries are not emergency surgeries, for which the out-of-hours service remains responsible.

The surgeries’ telephone switchboards are opened at 08:00 and closed at 18:30, after which time the answerphones are switched on.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MAKE AN APPONTMENT?

Our team will ask you why you need an appointment.

Please do give as much information as you can.

We use what you tell us to decide the help you need and how quickly it is required. We also think about who the best person would be to see you, and where and when you should be seen. Our priority will be to ensure you receive care quickly, either by telephone, video or face to face with a GP, nurse or another specialist such as the community pharmacist.

Let’s work together and make sure you receive the right care at the right time.

Any information you share is treated in the strictest of confidence

Appointments for routine non urgent conditions and annual reviews can be booked in advance up to two weeks, depending on availability.

Appointments for acute medical conditions that require early intervention can be accessed daily.

OTHER SOURCES OF HELP

There are a number of ways to get health advice and care if you, a family member or a friend feel ill.

Visit the NHS website– for advice and information on how to look after yourself and your family. It covers thousands of illnesses and conditions:  nhs.uk

Visit a pharmacist– We are now booking appointments for patients with local pharmacists.  Not all ailments need to be seen by a GP and our staff are trained to recognise these.

Where appropriate you will be offered an appointment with the pharmacist of your choice who will contact you and offer expert advice and low-cost medicines to ease your symptoms and help treat your condition.

Pharmacists are trained to spot worrying symptoms that require urgent medical help.

Alternatively, you don't need to wait for us to refer you, you could simply visit your local pharmacy.

Every area has a late opening pharmacy, and most have consulting rooms where you can ask for advice in private. Go to nhs.uk to find your nearest open pharmacist.

Visit 111.nhs.ukor call 111 – for free, round the clock help when your GP is closed, when it’s an urgent but not a life-threatening 999 situation, or if you are unsure where to go to get the right help for your medical condition. You can telephone 111 to get straight through to mental health advice.

 Care Data.

You may have read in the press about "General Practice Data for Planning and Research" (GPDPR). This is a new way that NHS Digital will collect data from the GP record to help plan for future NHS healthcare. The new way of collecting reduces the amount of work we in the practice have to do to share the information.

Any data collected will be pseudonymised (meaning it can't be identified with an individual).

There are two types of opt out to consider.

TYPE 1 - this stops any data going from the practice to NHS Digital.

NATIONAL DATA - this will allow the data to do to NHS Digital, but stops any data going further than that.

Remember in both instances, the data isn't identifiable to you.

To opt out of Type 1: complete the form here https://nhs-prod.global.ssl.fastly.net/…/type-1-opt-out-for… before 23rd June and return it to us (by email or in hard copy). We will then add the information to your medical record.

To opt out of National Data, visit https://www.nhs.uk/your-nhs-data-matters/manage-your-choice/ or use the NHS App.

For more information on GPDPR see https://digital.nhs.uk/…/general-practice-data-for-planning…
